Black Mental Health

MUSH. Inc is proudly Black female owned!

Our brand has a special focus on improving the mental & emotional well being in the black community.  Studies have shown that due to stigma and lack of not being able to properly identify symptoms of mental health issues, prevented many black adults from seeking out mental health resources and services.

“History has shown us that courage can be contagious, and hope can take on a life of its own.”

Michelle Obama

Why Black Mental Health awareness initiative?

Black Canadians represent 2.9% of the overall Canadian population, but represent 18% of Canadians living in poverty in Canada. (Statistics Canada, 2009)

Mental health systems should confront racism and engage the historical and contemporary racial contexts within which black people experience mental health problems. Critical self‐reflection at the individual level and racial equity analysis at the organizational level are critical.
